Tracing our bodies

B"H

We are currently in our "All about me" Unit! We have been discussing the different parts of our bodies and the unique way we were created, different from everyone else. Our friends worked together to trace each others bodies in the art center. They are going to be working on this piece, adding in all the different limbs as we learn them.

Our little explorers

B"H

Here at Gan Chaya, we cherish our outdoor space and try to make the most of it. There is so much learning and discovering that goes on while the kids play outside, especially when left to figure things out on their own. When we as teachers/parents take a step back and just be an observer, we will notice that our children can achieve far more than we expected and we can clearly watch their minds solve problems and figure out situations.

Being that we are lucky enough to have half our classroom outdoors, in the past few weeks we decided to let the children explore on their own. Closely followed by their teachers, the kids tried out one thing after another and worked as a team with their boundless creativity to come up with so many new inventions and discoveries!

Here is just a peak :)
Enjoy!

Building with tree bark!

Wooden blocks that we made, painted and are now using

Concentration, determination

Mendy decided that safety goggles would be a good idea for his digging.

Team work!

Painting the blocks

Look at those joyful faces!

I did it!

Hey there!

Found giggling behind the trees :)

Rain clouds

B"H

At our sensory table, there were cotton balls in a bucket and water in a jar with droppers. Our friends explored filling the cotton balls with water and waited to see when it got full enough to start dripping out, just like rain coming from the clouds.

Jumping rings

B"H

Outdoors, we put out a circle of jumping rings for our friends to better their gross motor skills. Our friends are excellent at jumping! High and far!

Our special invitations

B"H

As we were discussing that our Daddy's are going to be invited to spend some time in school with us on Monday, our friends came up with the idea of sending home invitations. They made their invitations based on how they thought they should look.

Snowstorm paintings

B"H

At our art center, we put out tools to create a snowstorm like painting. There were plastic screens, toothbrushes and white paint. The kids thoroughly enjoyed using these art mediums. Using the tooth brush, they brushed the paint through the screen and then picked it up to see the results. This was a great sensory experience as well.

Snowman button count

B"H

At our math center, we put out a snowman, buttons and hats with numbers. Our friends chose and amount of buttons to put on the snowman and then put on the corresponding hat.

A visit to our railway

B"H

Building train tracks is one of our favorite activities in the block center! Zalman made an amazing train track and as soon as it was done, all his friends came to use the trains on it and build a city around it! We all thanked Zalman for making the track and for letting everyone use it.

Snowball sizing

B"H

We started our winter unit this week and we are having loads of fun! In our math center, we did some "snowball" sizing.

Chanukah Review

B"H

Chanukah was very exciting in our classroom! Here is just a peak into what we did!

Jonah built a Beit Hamikdash in the block center

We worked hard to try to make olive oil like they did back in the times of the Beit Hamikdosh.

Aiden is working on his candle patterns

Mendy sanding down the wood for his menorah

next we painted it

then we carefully placed the candle holders on with really strong glue!

spinning like dreidels!
