Our week in a blog post :)

B"H

This week , we focused our energy on graduation. We practiced the songs we are going to sing, made some art to present and got started on our very exciting end of the year project to be displayed at graduation!! We are very excited and we hope you are too!

We celebrated Itta's birthday this week!
Our friends made her birthday cards
Aiden and Mendy decided to clean up our play space :)
We had black beans in the sensory bin which led to a discussion about what these black dots really are. We decided to fill the bin with water and revisit it the next day when they would be larger and soft.

We drew still life's of the plate of fruit on the art table

Gan Chaya's flower shop

B"H

When Hashem gave the Jewish poeple the Torah, He dressed up Har Sinai with lots of flowers to add to the festivity! Every year, we like to decorate our homes with flowers as well. Here in Gan Chaya, we made a flower shop with flowers that we made!

We first held a class meeting during snack time to discuss what needs to get done.

If you wanted to know what is needed to start a flower shop, here it is. :)

We then formed commitees to take care of each task.
 Meet the flower arranging committee!
The sign/ price committee
Here is the money making committee :)
Planing out prices and how to make the sign
 Discussing the flower arrangments

Cutting the ribbons to wrap the flowers in
Working hard on that money!

Sounding out the spelling of the words :)
 Proud of the finished product!

Setting up shop
*notice the line*
We decided to make a list so that we can all take turns being behind the cash register. Whoever wanted a turn, wrote their name down.
Happy customers! Success!

This was a wonderful experience for all of our friends! We got to learn how to break something up into details, how to properly delegate to get each job done, how to work as a team and practice doing real life jobs! there was so much learning and growing it was very special!

Mountain choosing

B"H

Shavuot is coming and we are so excited! We have been counting the days since Pesach! While learning about the upcoming holiday, we discussed where would be the best place for this momentous occasion. We came up with ideas like the Shul, a desert and on a high mountain. Hashem chose to do it on a mountain but He needed to chose one! So we acted out the process, and song, of Hashem choosing the mountain. There were tall ones and wide ones but Hashem chose Har Sinai, the mountain that was humble.

Flower bouquet paintings

B"H

We made bouquets of flowers by dipping celery into red paint and then stamping it onto our paper. We had a wide one and a smaller one to make different flowers. It was loads of fun!

Tunnels and marbles

B"H

In our sensory bin, we had pipes and marbles for our friends to discover and explore with. Check out how it developed!

We started off putting them through the pipe and watched them go up the wall of the bin!
Next, we held the pipes together and had the marbles roll right in the middle.
We extended our track further by attaching the pipes together and putting the bin on the floor.
To make the whole process more secure, we taped the pipes together and put a chair at the end to catch the marbles as they flew out.

What creative minds!

Color splash painting!

B"H

We had a blast at our art table doing color splash painting! Each friend chose a color that they wanted to put on their hand. Then, we slapped our friends five and the colors mixed! The result were so vibrant and exciting!

Caterpillar fun!

B"H

We have been discussing getting a class pet for our room for a while. During our Spring unit, we decided to get some caterpillars to watch grow into butterflies! We have been observing them closely watching how they grow, eat and shed their skin. Sometimes, we bring them to come eat lunch with us too! At the art table, our friends practiced their fine motor skills and patterning abilities by making their own paper caterpillars!

We took a pole on what was the favorite bug in our classroom. Spider one! :)
