Caution: Mud work ahead :)

B"H

The friends in our classroom have been showing a strong interest in exploring mud and rocks. When learning about the third day of creation, we thought what better way can we experience it other than through mud!
On the third day Hashem created land and all vegetation. We had lots of fun experiencing that!

After learning about Day 3 of creation in focus time, we went outside to fill our sensory bin with mud and rocks. All of our friends worked together to fill the bin!

We put the bin out on our sensory table to explore with during center time

Our friends worked together to make a nice big mud pie! :) They found spoons to mix their batter with!
Check out our hands!
We also put out mud paint at our art table to make beautiful pictures with!
Itta chose to paint her paper pink

Our mini construction site

B"H
Our friends came into the classroom in the morning and were very interested in collecting rocks from the other side of the wall of our outdoor classroom. They found a bucket to collect them in and worked together as a team to collect a whole lot of rocks!

Our friends made sure to stay on our side of the wall. They bent their bodies so that they can collect the rocks :)

All smiles as we work as a team!

Creation, Day One: Dark and light

B"H
This week we began learning about when Hashem created the world. We took a special trip to our light room to experience each day. On the first day of creation, Hashem created light and dark. We did lots of exploring of these opposites and practiced using the hebreww words Hashem used to create the world.

Letter of the week- Alef!

B"H
We began our Alef Bet this week with the letter Alef! We noticed that a few of our friends names start with Alef- Chloe Alisha, Aiden and Itta! We practiced making alef though many different ways.

Itta wrote a whole word in the rice, starting with alef. אור which means light. (See in picture below)

Rahm and Mendy worked together to make an Alef on the magnet wall.

Simchat Torah in our classroom!

B"H

Being that we only had one day to learn about this joyous holiday, we tried to pack it all in the time we had.

We made special simchat torah flags to dance with in shul!
We looked at different pictures of torahs and chose one we wanted to draw. Then we wrote the word torah and then put it all together on our flag. We chose which designed tape we liked and used it to make a border around the edges and on the stick.

We also made a Bimah in our classroom and went around it with torahs just like they do during Hakafot in shul, singing lots of simchas torah songs!

Our Sukkah Builders!

B"H

When we were learning about sukkahs, we were talking about the different materials they are made out of and how they are built. Being that we have already used wood in our classroom, we thought of the idea of building it ourselves! Our friends are so responsible and capable that we were able to use real wood and tools to put them together!

First we sanded down the wood. We made sure to put on safety goggles so the saw dust would not get in our eyes!

Next we planned out where our pieces should go

Then we hammered them in place!
We made sure to keep a safe distance when using the hammer!

Once it was all in place we used wood stain to make the sukkah the color we wanted. We put on our special aprons to make sure we didnt get it on our clothes!

Once it was dry we collected leaves and put them on our roof as schach

Our beautiful sukkahs!

Sukkah drawings

B"H

Sukkas come in all shapes and sizes, out of many different materials and are decorated in many different ways. We brought pictures of many different sukkas to our art table. Our friends chose one that seemed interesting to them and drew their own of it.

Yom Kippur in our classroom

B"H

We learned many different things about Yom Kippur through all our centers!

In our literacy center, we practiced writing the words Yom Kippur all on our own. We are getting great at our writing skills!

We learned that on Yom Kippur we can not wear leather shoes. We thought of many alternatices, many friends suggested to wear crocs :) We also decided to make our very own slippers!
We started off by tracing our friends feet

We carefully cut out the tracings

and then put a strap that we designed on it.
